The Life of Pi, very inspiring!

“Sometimes attaining the deepest familiarity with a question is our best substitute for actually having the answer.”

Brian Greene

We don't know what made us or what we're made off. We live learning from our mistakes and successes. Life is Huge, but too short to learn all about it. So we should not get frustrated or angry because we feel we've been left alone, drifting in an infinite sea, unprotected from storms and dangerous creatures. We can get familiar with those feelings of aloneness and fear, and instead of hiding them, we can bring them to the light. We can say, I'm afraid, but I'm also strong, smart and loved. I don't know how to be better, but I can live close to that question, How can I be better? The answer lies in the question...

And the story we tell ourselves must come from our effort to emphasize, to illuminate, to colorize  our words, actions and feelings. We can tell our story with ideas that no one believes but that make our life the beautiful experience it should be, or we can tell a story that makes sense to everyone, but brings no warmth or brightness in us. Choose magic, for we don’t know reality that well, enough to say that magic is an illusion. Believe in your joy, in your love, in your spirit.

“If you stumble about believability, what are you living for? Love is hard to believe, ask any lover. Life is hard to believe, ask any scientist. God is hard to believe, ask any believer. What is your problem with hard to believe?”

Life of Pi, Yann Martel

The only “thing” that has always stopped me, and broke me apart of the most important “things” in my life, was fear. So if you have questions that you can’t find the answer, be friend with those questions. If you don’t know what do with your life, tell your self the story of someone who didn’t know what do with their life, but tell it the best and joyful way you can. And if you feel scared for the changes that come from that new storyteller, remember that fear deserves no respect. To be fearful is to choose failure. Fight against it with grace!

“I must say a word about fear. It is life's only true opponent. Only fear can defeat life. It is a clever, treacherous adversary, how well I know. It has no decency, respects no law or convention, shows no mercy. It goes for your weakest spot, which it finds with unerring ease. It begins in your mind, always. One moment you are feeling calm, self-possessed, happy. Then fear, disguised in the garb of mild-mannered doubt, slips into your mind like a spy.”

Life of Pi, Yann Martel

A good exercise to change into a new mindset:

"You have to find a few spaces in your life, a few moments like oases in deserts, where you simply close your eyes and go beyond society, move into yourself, into your own womb. This is what meditation is. The society is there. Simply close your eyes and forget the society, and become alone. No rules exist there, no character is needed, no morality, no words, no language. You can be loose and natural inside.

Grow into that loose-and-naturalness. Even if there is a need for outer discipline, remain wild inside. If one can remain wild inside and still practice things which are needed in the society, then soon he can come to a point where he simply transcends.
